- The Baker's Dozen: Changes in Centiwrite 1.10
- === ======= ===== ======= == ========== ====
-
- 1. Load screen switch.
- By using the command-line switch /ls, you can load the current screen
- into the program. You can then edit and save it as you would any other
- file.
-
- 2. Automatic save feature.
- You can now have your file saved every five minutes by using the /sa
- command-line switch. The default is /sm (manual saves).
-
- 3. Encryption feature.
- Use the /ey command-line switch to load a file previously encrypted by
- Centiwrite. This is not industrial-strength encryption, but it may be
- all that is needed. F6 toggles the encryption flag. The default is /en
- (no encryption).
-
- 4. Monochrome colors option.
- Use the /m command-line switch to force monochrome attributes.
-
- 5. Default cursor change.
- The cursor as shipped from the "factory" is now inverse video (attribute
- 70H). If you prefer the boldface cursor, use CWCUSTOM to change it.
-
- 6. BIOS screen writes option.
- Centiwrite 1.0x used direct screen writes only. In version 1.10, you may
- disable direct screen writes and use BIOS calls instead by using the
- /vb switch or through CWCUSTOM. The default switch is /vd for direct
- screen writes. This _may_ enable you to run the program with operating
- environments such as Desqview or Concurrent DOS. However, performance
- will be noticeably slower.
-
- 7. No blank line.
- The blank line below the status line has been eliminated.
-
- 8. Reduced size.
- Despite the added features, CWRITE.EXE has been reduced to just over
- 34000 bytes.
-
- 9. CLOCK$ bug fixed.
- "CLOCK$" is no longer allowed as a file name. Previously, use of
- this DOS reserved device name caused problems.
-
- 10. Revised license policy.
- Read the file LICENSE.DOC for information on the new policy for
- shareware disk vendors, as well as clarification of the policy
- for on-line bulletin board systems. Also mentioned is a new
- "bundling" policy.
-
- 11. LCURSOR.EXE.
- The utility LCURSOR, included in the bonus package for registered users,
- has been rewritten in assembly language and is now about 132 bytes, a
- decrease of over 93% over the Turbo Pascal version. It functions exactly
- the same as it has in the past.
-
- 12. Visa/Mastercard welcome.
- The Public (Software) Library will now accept credit card orders for
- Centiwrite. See CWRITE.DOC for details.
-
- 13. Price increase.
- All prices have been raised. See "Down to Brass Tacks" in CWRITE.DOC.
- Registered owners of Centiwrite 1.0x receive a free upgrade. Just look
- at their smiling faces as they beam over their good fortune!
